“The Testimony Of Heaven’s
Tears”
Revelation 21: 4
This sermon by Dr. D. L. Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas, was preached in my last pastorate when he was with us in revival many years ago. I recently found the outline, remembered what a wonderful message it was and felt impressed to share it with you as one of three sermons on Heaven.
“There will be two kinds of tearful testimonies in Heaven.”
I. The Testimony Of Tears Of Regret:
Because of…
A. Misplaced Treasures.
“Lay not up for yourselves…” It is amazing what will not stand up to the fire of Heaven’s tests.B. Misused Gifts.
O, the tragedy of wasted years and lost opportunities.C. A Misrepresented Lord.
People see Jesus through us. They read the Gospel from the pages of our lives.D. Misled Souls.
You are gathering or you are scattering abroad.
II. The Testimony Of Tears Of Rejoicing. We will rejoice because of…
A. The Place. The New Jerusalem more beautiful than can be described.
B. The Personalities. Revelation 5: 8-14
1. The Eternal Personalities, vs. 11, “The voice of many angels.”
2. The Historical Personalities, 5: 8-11. All the saints of the ages past.
3. The Contemporary Personalities, 5:13. All the saved loved ones who have gone before us. Imagine the tears of rejoicing, a “hallelujah” harvest! Tears of deliverance and tears of discovery.
4. The Supreme Personality Of Heaven. Revelation 1: 13-18. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!
Conclusion: I want to minimize my regrets and maximize my rejoicing. We need to repent in tears now! There are other tears which will not be taken away. These are the tears of rejection, anguish, and hopelessness, Matt. 7:23. Listen to the testimony of tears and place your faith in the one who will one day wipe away all tears for the believer.
