Pastor, as you do your calendar planning for the coming year and beyond I hope you will prayerfully consider giving me the joy of being with you and your dear people in revival. Every church needs those “times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.” When planned, prayed over, and promoted a revival in your church can be a time of renewed vision, enthusiasm, commitment, stewardship, and devotion for your dear people. It can be a time for an evangelist to affirm your ministry as pastor and help your people understand how they can come alongside their pastor with their support, prayers, and followship.

Revival time can be a time of seeing broken relationships restored, broken hearts healed, and broken homes mended. It can be a wonderful opportunity to help your people get out of the “rut” of religious routine. Revival can expose the crippling barriers to God’s blessings such as the controlling, complaining, compromising, comfortable crowd that prefers the garlic of Egypt to the milk and honey of the Promised Land.

Revival will restore spiritual priorities, passion, and purity to God’s people. Revival will encourage the discouraged, strengthen the weak, give hope to those in despair, and restore the joy the evil one has stolen.

Revival is that spiritual bath that we all need periodically. It is that breath of fresh air that stirs the saints. It is that returning to Bethel (where it all began). Revival is needed in good churches, indifferent churches, cold churches, and troubled churches. The truth is, every church needs revival from time to time.

I have asked the Lord to make me a blessing to every pastor and church I am with. Call me today. I would be honored to include you and your dear people on my schedule.

Have You Considered???

Pastor, I confess that during the twenty-five years I served as a pastor I never really thought about how God could have used me, as a pastor, to be a blessing to my evangelist brothers apart from just having them with me in revivals. Now that I am on the “other side” of the fence I would like to suggest some ways you could be a great blessing to some evangelist who you know, love, and have confidence in.

1. Share with your congregation, through your newsletter and other means of communication, the evangelist’s schedule and encourage them to pray for him.

2. Educate your people as to how to best pray for the unique needs of the evangelist, i.e., travel mercies, for the Lord to fill his schedule, for the Lord to meet his financial needs, for his health, and for his family while he is away.

3. Adopt an evangelist. If you do not have an evangelist in your church, adopt one your people know and love. Have your people send cards for birthdays and anniversaries, and other special occasions.

4. Use an evangelist. Most evangelists need to fill dates in January, February, June, July, and early December. Do your best to use an evangelist often during these times. There may be an evangelist your people respond to unusually well. Have them every year for a One Day revival, a winter revival, or in the summer. Have a day in your church each year when you invite him in to bless your people and let them bless him.

5. Support an evangelist. If there is an evangelist who is especially beloved to your people why not invest in his ministry? Offer to pay his medical insurance, his retirement, provide a vehicle, or put his ministry in your church’s budget as a part of your church’s missions giving.

6. Consider an evangelist as a part of your staff team. Many evangelists, although they are gone much of the time, could do a wonderful job working with your senior adults, being an associate to the pastor when not on the road in revivals, or serving as Staff Evangelist with other responsibilities. There is enough “down” time they can be a real asset to your church. Many evangelists would love to be more “connected” to the local church.

I wish someone had shared these suggestions with me when I was a pastor. I just did not think about my opportunity to be a blessing to God’s men and women who were in evangelism. Ask God how you can be a blessing to some evangelist today.

Thank you to the many pastors who have honored me with the joy of being with them in revival. One of the greatest blessings of evangelism is the fellowship and friendship I enjoy with my preacher brothers.

To be invited to a church for revival is a sacred trust for which I praise God. It is glorious to see souls saved, relationships restored, homes strengthened, vision renewed, and leadership encouraged. Please pray that the Lord will continue to use us for His Glory. Please pray for our schedule.
